Part 6 At the hospital . . . Trunks had just come through the door. "Where is the waiting room?" Trunks asked impatiently. "Down the hall and to the left." The girl said, but before she even finished the word "left" he was down the hall. To Bra, it seemed the door burst open and he came flying in to save the day. He didn't. He walked in and Bra and the million other people in the room looked up. She stood and kissed him. He barley kissed back before asking about his friend. "How is he?" Goten sat and waited. "I don't know." Three more hours slowing droned on. And on they went. Slow as ever. Doctors came in left and right, but it always seemed to be to the person next to them. Always. "Trunks . . ." Bra murmured in her sleep. Goten hadn't even noticed Bra was sleeping on his shoulder. In a sudden movement, she fell to his lap. Neither of them let it ruin their daydreams of when Trunks was there, alive and well. A doctor came in and Goten didn't flinch. Bra was to consumed in her fantasy dream that she kept right on sleeping. By now, the constant opening and closing of door was normal. "Ummm . . .Trunks Briefs?" Goten looked at him. Bra's head fell to the seat as he stood up, which made her wake up. "Ouch," she said rubbing her ear as she sat up. "Can we visit him now?" Goten asked eagerly. "You may, but he will be resting." "What room is he in?" Bra asked. "You will have to ask the lady at the front desk." "Where is that?" "Down the hall, take a right and then take a left. She's the first window on your left." "Thanks." Bra yelled, as she followed Goten who was already taking the right. The doctor left the room without saying your welcome. "He's in room 463." The clerk said as Bra rounded the corner. She had stopped running and she realized how far ahead Goten was. She speeded up and knew she would catch him at the elevator. He wasn't there. 'He must've taken the stairs,' she thought. Bra wasn't going to do the same. The next elevator that came was empty. She went up and just as the doors were closing someone screamed "Wait!". The doors closed just as Marron's face appeared. "Oops." She pushed the fourth floor. It shot up and she got dizzy just thinking about what could happen to her only brother. She had had a second brother, Josiah, but he died at birth. Josiah. She repeated. Could Trunks end up in heaven, like him? She shook her head and when she did she shook all the thoughts of Trunks and Josiah out of her head. She got off the elevator and looked around for the room numbers. She saw 458, then 459. She came up to 460, 461, 462, and finally 463. She entered through the door. Trunks was on the bed, not moving. He looked so peaceful. Goten was sitting on the chair next to his bed. "I'm not leaving this room till he wakes up." Goten stated. "Same here." "Why didn't you wait for me on the elevator?" Marron yelled at Bra as she came through the door. "I'm sorry." "Hey Mar." Goten said. "Hey Goten." She said simply to Goten and then she spotted Trunks, lying there. He was so . . .. Undisturbed. Marron sat down. There was one fold out bed big enough for the three of them. Every room had this and it was really cool to see that you could stay with your loved one until they returned to normal state. Bra and Goten folded it out the bed while Marron took off her shoes. Bra remembered she had told her mom Trunks had gone to Gary's. How did she leave then? Her and Marron had to make excuses on somewhere they went, just to stay with Trunks. "Got any change?" "Yea, here." Goten held out his hand and Bra got the change and went to make the call. "Hey mom?" "No, this is Vegeta. What do you want?" "Me and Marron are working nights at the hospital and we won't be back till early tomorrow morning okay? Or we might stay longer. Just tell mom that. And Goten's here helping." "Whatever." "I love you too dad." She said hanging up. She ran back to the room. Goten and her flopped on the bed and Marron followed suit. It was eleven. They had all fell asleep by two in the morning. At five, Bra stretched her arms out and hit Goten in the face. He woke up, then sat up. Then, Bra stretched her feet out and accidentally kicked him onto the floor. Goten rubbed his head. "Bra!" "Mmmmm?" She answered in a sleepy tone. "You pushed me off the bed!" "That's nice." Bra replied turning over. Goten wanted revenge on her for waking him up so . . . violently. So, he pushed her off the bed too. "Oww!" What did you go and do that for?" "You started it!" He joked. "No I didn't! I was asleep!" "Sure!" "Shut up!" "You!" Goten retorted. "Both of you shut up!" Marron said. A leg kicked Marron off the bed. "Hey!" "Why don't you all shut up so I can rest some more?" Immediately Goten went for the light. 'That wasn't Goten or Marron,' Bra thought. 'That was . . .' Her thought's ended as the light went on and she saw her brother sitting up. "Trunks!" Bra yelled running to the bed and throwing her arms around him. They hugged. "Hey man." Goten said to him. Trunks smiled. He let go of his baby sis and shook hands with Goten like they were old friends reuniting. Marron just smiled when he looked at her. "Hey." Was all that she said. "How long have you guys been here?" "Like nine hours." Bra told him. "You guys waited for me that long?" They shook their heads. Marron yawned. "I'm going back to bed." Marron declared. "Me too." Goten said. "I guess I'll crash too." Bra followed Goten into the bed and immediately followed him to sleep. The next morning . . .. "Goten, will you find out what time lunch is?" "Alright." He walked out. Bra realized if she left, Marron and Trunks would have to 'connect'. "I'm going to the bathroom." She said running out the door. "How have you been, Marron?" "Good." "I'm not in love with you anymore." He said bluntly. "I know. I'm not in love with you either." "Good." Trunks sighed to himself. "This is the end of any lingering feelings then?" Marron wanted to know. "Yes." "Same here." "Okay then." "I'll be on my way." Marron picked up her jacket and as she walked out the door, the door hit Bra and Goten in their heads and they fell backwards. They had had their ears to the door listening to every word of the conversation. "Better find out what time lunch is Goten. Bye Bra." Marron said as she walked down the hallway. Bra walked in. "When are you able to leave?" Bra asked. "Tomorrow at noon." Bra hugged Trunks. "Lunch is in a few minutes. See you a little later." "Let's go Bra." Goten was hurrying her but she was saying her mushy good-byes. Finally, he picked her up over his shoulders. She was kicking him trying to blow Trunks a kiss. "I love you Trunks!" She blew as she did and he threw one back at her before the door closed. About three minutes after they left, the nurses cleaned the beds and served lunch and Trunks watched TV for a few hours. Marron's House a few weeks after Trunks got out of the hospital . . . Deep inside saying goodbye to Trunks was torture to Marron. She somehow felt magical whenever they were together. Yet, Keunai gave her so many presents it made her feel like a queen. She knew what she had to do. But before she was going to do anything she wanted to go for a vacation. The phone rang and she ran to pick it up. "Hello?" "Hey Marron." "Oh hello Keunai." "I want to know if we could get together this weekend." "I'm going on a vacation." "Oh, neat thanks for inviting me. I'll be at your house at six-thirtish. Love you and see you then." Marron was astounded at how he had just invited himself to her vacation. "Sometimes I could just . . .. arrrrgh!" She picked up the phone and dialed Bra's number. "Hello, this is the Briefs residents Trunks speaking. How may I help you today?" "Where the hell did you come up with such a dumb line?" Then she realized she was talking to the answering machine. "We aren't home so could you leave a message after the beep? Thanks, Bye." Beeeep. "Hey this is Marron and I was calling to-" "Hey Marron!" Bra picked up the phone and the answering machine was turned off. "Hey Bra. I need some advice." "Let me sit down and take my shoes off. Okay, I'm ready. Shoot." "How would break a date?" "Uh, how long have you been planning to go with the guy?" "Three minutes." "Three minutes! Ummm . . . tell him nicely you forgot you had something else planned and you can't make it." "No, that won't work." "What? Bra's advice never fails!" "Yea, but your brain does." Marron heard Trunks say in the background. "Shut up!" Bra yelled at him. "This isn't the time!" Marron shouted, but Bra wasn't listening to her. She was to busy rolling on the floor wrestling with Trunks to remember her friend. "Ahhhh! That tickles! Let me go!" Trunks picked her up over his shoulder and ran outside onto the patio. Straight into the pool she went. Her head popped up above the frigid water and Marron heard her scream "I'll get revenge if it's the last thing I do!" Marron hung up and sulked. Three days at a resort with Keunai. What a nightmare. Wait a minute! Had she just said that to herself? Had she just thought Keunai was a nightmare? She had been fooling herself the entire time. She didn't love Keunai and she had kidded herself for almost two months now with the excuse of 'Trunks doesn't love me back'. She had wanted to go on the vacation for a while so she decided to go and then ditch him because she knew she didn't love him. Who had she been joking?
