Part 7 Bra and Trunks a little bit later that day . . .after Bra is dry again… "Oh no!" "What?" "I had been on the phone with Marron! Hello?" She picked up the phone but Marron had hung up an eternity ago. "It's not like it was that important. I mean what were you guys talking about anyway?" "She wanted to know how to break a date." Bra went on like absolutely nothing happened, but really nothing had. Trunks had stopped and his eyes were wide with astonishment. Bra looked at him as she took her socks off and plopped onto the couch. She saw his eyes. She sat up and looked around. "What's wrong?" She asked scared that something awful had happened. "Love you, bye!" Trunks ran out the door and jumped into the air. "Where are you going?" She screamed after him but he didn't reply. "Oh! Sometimes I could just grab him by the neck and squeeze the pulp out of him!" She said waving her fist in the air specifically meant for him. She went back inside and her mother came down and told her to go tell Vegeta to come inside. "He's going to want to know exactly why and how much longer he can stay out. As if he likes to mow the lawn." She muttered the last part. "Tell him the forecast is looking at thunderstorms and if he doesn't get his butt in here this instant I'll give him a whooping he won't ever forget." "MOM! Do you want dad to kill me? I know he would if I told him that." "Go out there and tell your father!" Bra got kinda worried her mom would kick her butt if she didn't do as she said, so she did. She walked out into the yard. "Mom says the forecast is looking at thunderstorms and if you don't get your butt in here this instant she'll give you a whooping you won't ever forget." "How much time do I have?" "Dad, you don't even like mowing the lawn!" "Ask her!" "She said if you don't get your butt in there now she whip you like a blender. Satisfied?" "Yes. I want to know something though." "Yes?" Bra said automatically. "Where did Trunks go?" "I don't know. Why don't you just leave him alone? He can take care of himself. You know him. Weren't you the one who saw him turn Super Saiyan for the first time?" "You know Bra . . .I'd rather not talk about that particular memory. Ever." Vegeta was jealous of Trunks turning Super Saiyan so young and Bra knew it so she let it be. Vegeta and Trunks had never gotten along that great and Bra didn't expect it to get any better between them so she walked inside and told her mother Vegeta's reply and Bulma looked like she'd go out the roof. She let her mom do, as she must. Bulma went outside and Bra heard some serious Vegeta-bashing. She half expected her mother to come inside holding his ear and scolding him for using the lawn mower without telling her where he was but all her other came back with was a tear in her eye. "Are you okay mom?" "Yea." She said through sobs. "What's wrong?" "Oh, it's just your father. He's just so . . . him all the time. It makes me want to cry. He was so pure and free when I married him. He didn't even want kids, you know. He tolerates you guys, though. Ohhhh." Bulma sighed. She went upstairs. Bra rolled her eyes and hoped when she got older she was more stable then her parents. Her mother came down with no sign of sadness a couple minutes later and demanded to know where Trunks had gone. "I don't know!" Bra repeated. "But he was here with you ten minutes ago! He didn't just get up and leave." "Yes he did mom! Just like I'm about to do." She ran outside and plunged into the sky without turning around. "God why have you given me my life as such?" She recited from a poem and plopped her butt in the couch and Vegeta still hadn't come inside and she called Juughachigou. "Hello?" "Hey." "Bulma, you sound so upset. Why don't you come over for some coffee? I'm free for a while and I need some company. You sound like you need it too." "Alright. Be over in about ten minutes. See ya and thanks for always being my shoulder to lean on." "Anytime." "Bye." "Bye." Bulma put some more presentable clothes on and jumped in the craft without letting Vegeta know she was leaving. When he had finally finished the lawn he realized no one was home. He fell asleep on the bed and though nothing of it. Trunks . . . Trunks landed outside the mall and went inside. He walked for a bit. He saw Goten over at a local café. Goten saw him and waved but Trunks didn't stop to chat. Goten was with Robby and Ethan, friends of his. Goten got up and followed Trunks. Trunks thought he didn't move and didn't see him following him. So, Goten followed him right into the jewelry store. "Trunks! What are you in here for? Did you get your ears pierced or you just want to feel pretty?" "I want to feel pretty." He retorted with no sign of laughter in his speech. "You're not serious!" Goten wanted to know. "You're right." "So, then what are you here for?" "Well, Bra was on the phone with Marron and I started to wrestle with Bra, then she realized Marron had hung up and she was like really bummed out. So, I asked her what was so important that they'd been talking about." "And?" "I'm not finished. They'd been talking about how Marron could break a date!" "And?" "Don't you see? If Marron's going to break a date, it's with Keunai or some other guy right?" "And?" "So, if Marron wanted to break a date with Keunai, which since she's so in love with him, then why would she call my sister? Wouldn't he understand? Then, if she wasn't breaking a date with Keunai then whom was she breaking a date with? That means she's double dating him or she had officially dumped him and I want to be the first one in line for her heart." "Man, how come I never think of these things? You're too slick. Hey, I'm going to get you a piece of pizza. Meet me in the café after you're done feeling so pretty." "Gotcha." Goten walked off. 'Wow! There's so much jewelry, how can I just pick one?' Trunks thought to himself. "Hello I'm Mandy! How can I help you?" "I'm just looking for some jewelry." "Of course. Now what type of jewelry? Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, toe rings, anklets, charms?" "Ummm . . . earrings." "Alright." She led him over to the earring section. "I have no idea how to shop for jewelry." He told her. "It's all right I'll help you. How about birthstone earrings?" "Ummm . . ." "Oh, I'm so sorry! How would you know his or hers birthstone?" "I know it but I don't think she'd like them." "What else do you know about your friend she doesn't know?" She muttered. "Everything. She's my one and my only and she's going out with this complete jerk." "What's this lucky girls name?" "Marron." She froze for a few seconds. "He doesn't love her!" She blurted out. "What?" "Keunai doesn't love Marron. At all. And he's been using me working here as a link to get all that jewelry!" His eyes widened. "You know Keunai?" "He's my little brother. And he's just using her to get this other girl." "What's the other girl's name?" Trunks demanded. "I'm not sure if you know her. Her names Bra." He bit his lip. "Do you know who I am?" "Trunks . . .right?" "Yes." "So do you know Bra?" She asked impatiently. "She my little sister." She gasped. "First you, then your sister. Oh, I'm going to give that boy a whipping he won't forget." "I'll take the silver dolphins and I'll be on my way thanks." She looked at him. His eyes had so much fear for his sister. She knew how he wanted to protect her. "Here you are. That will be fifteen twenty-five." "But on the box it says -" "You deserve a discount and don't you worry about what it says on the box." She scolded him. He picked the money out of his pocket. He walked out without saying good-bye; but then again she didn't expect him to. He was in a state of pure shock and she would be to if she were in that position. He walked to the café and sat down across from Goten. Robby and Ethan had left. "I got you some pizza." "I'm . . . not hungry." Goten's eyes opened wide. Trunks was in love with pizza and you knew there was something wrong when he wouldn't eat it. "What's wrong?" "Nothing, I just . . . nothing." "Trunks I know you to well, you just don't not eat pizza. That's not you!" "Ya well then cherish this moment cause it's the only one you'll see when I'm not eating pizza." "What's got you down?" "Nothing!" "Whatever." Goten got up and walked to the jewelry store, and seeing Mandy as the only free employee he walked up to her. "Hello, I'm Mandy what can I do for you?" "I was wondering, was there a boy with lavender hair in here just a minute ago?" "You mean Trunks?" "Ya!" "Yes, he was in here. And . . ." "Were you the one helping him find the jewelry?" "Ya." "What did you say to him?" "What did I say to him? I said a lot of things." "Did he just stop talking like right after you said something?" "Ya." "Well . . .what did you say?" "You know Keunai right?" "Yes." He rolled his eyes. "Well, he doesn't love Marron and he's using her to get this other girl." "Who?" "Uh, Trunks' little sister, Bra." Goten froze with fright. Horror surrounded him. Bra was his girlfriend and he loved her. He would let nothing happen to her. "Hey are you all right man?" She asked him. "I'll be fine." He walked out of the store horror-struck. He walked back into the café and looked Trunks in the eye. "B-Bra." "He won't do anything." Trunks said. "B-Bra, why her?" He said low and shaky. He sat down across from Trunks. "It'll be okay." But Trunks knew anything could happen. If he'd known it would be okay he would've eaten his pizza. Goten knew it too.
