Why Does it Have to be Like This? Part 9 "Goten! What are you doing here?" I squealed, hugging him tightly. "Well, you told me I could come and visit, so here I am," he laughed. "Did I surprise you?" "Very much! When I said to come and visit, I thought you'd call to let me know." "I thought this might be a little more exciting…I'm sowwy B-chan." He hung his head in that gorgeous naughty little boy way. "There's no need to be." I suddenly realised that our entire conversation had been taking place in my doorway. "I'm so sorry, Goten! Come inside! How did you find me anyway?" "I asked Kale, naturally!" he replied. "Where can I dump my bag?" "Umm…anywhere where you can see carpet," I replied, as I attempted to weave my way through countless notes and textbooks. "Sorry about the mess - as you know already, I wasn't expecting company." "I didn't come at a bad time, did I?" Goten asked, almost timidly. That was very typical of him. "No, of course not!" I wrapped my arms around him. "You could never come at a bad time." He lightly kissed me. "It's only been a week and a half since I last saw you, and I missed you that whole time." "I know what you mean." I smiled broadly - it was so great to see him again. "So, how long are you staying for?" "Until you get sick of me," he answered. "Geez, then you'll be here forever!" Goten laughed. "Nah, I just thought for a couple of days - maybe a week. Would that be okay?" "Sounds great, but we'll have to get you some food. Our dining hall is pretty stingy when it comes to extra meals…I don't think they'd know what to do with you. We can go tomorrow morning - I don't have classes til the afternoon." "Whatever's good for you, babe." I smirked. "I've got a good idea of what would be good for me right now…" Goten returned the smirk - he looks so hot when he does that! "Oh, really?" He sat on my bed, and pulled me onto his lap. "And what would that be?" "Maybe I should show you." * * * * * * "It's so nice to finally meet you!" said Arkya as I presented my boyfriend to my college friends. From the way Arkya had given him the once over, I assumed he had received her approval. "Long time, no see, huh?" Uub remarked, shaking hands with Goten. "Yeah, I know! Bra told me you were doing the same course as her, and living in the same dorm as Kale. That's so insane." Goten continued to shake hands with my remaining friends, being Liberty and Daruke. "How long are you here for?" Liberty asked. "Probably a week, maybe less. Bra's slave-driver of a brother allowed me a week off." "You work for Bra's brother?" said Daruke. "Yeah - Trunks and I used to be best friends. We still get along, but we're not as close anymore. He spends way too much time working - that's all he seems to care about. Plus, he got kinda distant on me a little while back." Goten grinned. "Doesn't really matter, I guess. The consolation prize that I got is much better." "Consolation prize!?" I cried, pretending to be offended. "Where do you plan on sleeping tonight, Goten?" "In your bed - you can sleep on the floor." He grinned again, cheekily. "Only kidding, B-chan! You know that!" "You actually came on the right day," Arkya commented. "Tonight is bar night." "Serious? Sweet!" "We'll have to make sure to get there early," I stated. "Goten's worse than Uub for getting drunk, so he'll have to start early on the crappy free cocktails." "It's Traffic Light party tonight, isn't it?" asked Liberty. "Yep," Daruke answered. "Can I borrow a green shirt, Uub?" "Dude, I don't know if I have a spare one," Uub replied. "I think Kale does, and he certainly won't be wearing it." "Traffic Light Party?" Goten seemed confused. "Red, Yellow and Green," I explained. "Red means you're seeing someone, and that's it, hands off. Yellow means you're seeing someone but you don't mind fooling around a little. And green means all systems go; you're single and you're on the prowl. Hence, Kale will not - under any circumstances - be wearing his green shirt. Whereas Uub and Daruke - being the single losers that they are - will want to be decked out in full green outfits." "Go to Hell, Briefs!" Daruke retorted with a laugh. "Shit, we're late to class!" Arkya cried. I handed Goten the keys to my room. "You won't want to come with me to class - it'll be dead boring. Watch TV or something - I won't be too long." I kissed him goodbye before running to catch up with my friends. * * * * * * Goten and I met up with the others at Arkya's room (she was the closest to the bar). We were nearly matching in red shirts and jeans (of course, there was an obvious difference - both items of clothing were skin tight on me, and baggy on Goten). Uub had taken my joke literally, and was wearing a bright green T-shirt and olive pants. Daruke and Kale had swapped shirts - Daruke was wearing one of Kale's green T-shirts, and Kale was wearing Daruke's button-up red shirt. Arkya and Liberty were the biggest surprises - both wearing yellow. "What's with the yellow outfits?" I asked. "I met a guy back home during the break. I'm not exactly sure what's going on," Arkya replied. "Plus, I don't want a bunch of sleazy guys drooling all over me." "Fine then - what's your excuse, Liberty?" "No green clothes - plus I look better in yellow," he answered with a shrug. "Oh, yeah sure," Uub said, grinning evilly. "I reckon you two have hooked up, and just don't want to tell us." I think I was the only one that noticed the very light shade of red that both Arkya and Liberty turned. Liberty was just lucky that Arkya had blushed too, and thus I kept my mouth shut. If it had just been him, I would not have had so much control. We only just made it in time for the free cocktails. It was pretty sad to see how a large percentage of the bar seemed to be filled with people in green. A couple of yellow and orange people stood out, and there was a severe lack of red. Kale rolled his eyes. "Our dorm is so pathetic," he sighed. By "our" he was mostly referring to himself and Uub. Liberty and I are in a different dorm together (the higher class one, where most of the rich people live), and so are Daruke and Arkya. Uub and Kale's dorm has a reputation for being full of the more…outrageous students. It didn't have to be bar night for most of them to get blind drunk. "Despite coming under the heading of 'pathetic' myself, I'd have to agree," Uub chuckled. He and Kale are definitely the most normal people in their dorm - and calling Uub normal is bizarre in itself. We found a table after collecting a round of cocktails. Glancing around the bar, I grinned. "There's mostly students here tonight. No creepy town people." "I thought you'd be upset by that, Bra," Arkya said, with an evil smirk (I've taught her too well). "Means you won't be able to see Ratman." Too late, I shot a venomous glare in her direction, but Goten had already asked, "Who's Ratman?" "This guy who tried to pick Bra up one night," Arkya giggled. "She hates it when we mention him." Goten laughed too. "You didn't tell me about him, Bra!" "That's because it's embarrassing!" I grumbled, then refused to say anything else. I continued sulking for around 10 minutes, which is a record for me. Usually I give up after five. "Are you still sooking, B-chan?" Goten asked. "Yes!" "Please don't. I'm sorry we made fun of you." "Hmph." However, despite my attempts to be stubborn, Goten managed to get a smile out of me after a few more pleas, and a very convincing pair of puppy-dog eyes. And I had to forgive him completely, when he whispered to me, "I'll make it up to you later - I promise." With a promise like that, I didn't want to stay out much longer, but it would've been rude to just stand up and tell my friends, "Sorry, Goten and I have to have sex now. See you all tomorrow." So I just smiled at him. Luckily for me, we didn't stay out that long anyway. Traffic Light Parties are more for people trying to pick up, and Daruke, Liberty and Uub weren't trying all that hard, so the night ended up being fairly boring. The DJ wasn't all that good either, so at around 1am we called it a night, and headed back to our dorms. And Goten kept his promise. * * * * * * Goten's stay passed too quickly for my liking. He ended up leaving on the Sunday, even though Trunks had given him until Tuesday off. He told me that he didn't want to leave his mother alone for too long "How long until your next break?" he asked. "About a month, I think," I answered, with a sad smile. That was too long to wait! "It'll be okay, babe. We've had to wait longer before." "I know. I'll still miss you though." "Me too."
